Encourage Your Musical Child

If your child’s more interested in playing music than your Satellite TV-HQ channels, encourage them! Whether they want to learn the clarinet, the piano or the guitar there are a lot of ways you can help them develop their talents. Here are a few of our best tips:
Get Some Lessons: This may seem like a no brainer but they’re often harder to come by than you’d think. Lessons can come from a school music teacher or a local music student – check Craigslist and then the local paper.
Rent Their Instrument: It may seem counterintuitive but renting ensures your child won’t want to give their instrument up after only a few weeks of playing. It’s also helpful for when something breaks or when they decide they want to buy a different, better model.
Take Them Somewhere: If you’re lucky enough to live in a town with a symphony orchestra, take your child. There’s nothing more encouraging than seeing adults playing and playing well and they’ll likely feel inspired to practice more often and harder. Also, quality time is a good thing!
